About the Role
The Asphalt Heavy Equipment Operator is an integral part of the asphalt team, working with the crew foreman. The ideal candidate is familiar with various paving machines and understands asphalt paving operations.
Responsibilities
- Operate Asphalt Paving Machines.
- Run, maneuver, and utilize equipment.
- Inspect equipment before and after operating to ensure it is in good working order.
- Practice awareness of others and exercise safety practices at all times.
- Perform general laborer duties associated with asphalt paving, patching, or prep crews.
- Assist with shoveling, raking, and handling tools and equipment as directed.
- Clean and organize equipment to company standards before shift conclusion.
- Operate power tools as needed.
- Demonstrate coordination and strength to safely use heavy equipment controls.
- Remain stationary in the operating area for prolonged periods.
- Signal operators of construction equipment to facilitate alignment and movement of materials.
- Assist in the placement, moving, and dismantling of traffic control devices.
- Diagnose equipment issues.
- Interact with other workers on the jobsite.
- Perform other duties as requested and assigned.
Requirements
- 2-3 years' experience within the asphalt industry.
- 1-2 years' experience operating paving equipment.
- Must be organized with a detail-oriented mindset.
- Must be positive, friendly, and professional.
- Ability to work well with others in a group or one-on-one setting.
- Promote, execute, and adhere to the company's safety policy.
- Encourage all employees, subcontractors, and consultants to adopt safety as a culture.
- Work in a safe, responsible manner.
- Promote a team approach and maintain dialogue with all employees.
- Collaborate with project teams on other special initiatives, as required.
- Familiarity with OSHA regulations.
- Must comply with the company's drug and alcohol testing requirements.
- Use of Personal Protection Equipment is required.
- Proper PPE is required at all times.
