About the Role
The Deputy Chief Administrative Officer (DCAO) provides executive-level administrative and operational support to the Chief Administrative Officer (CAO), overseeing the Professional Services Bureau. This role involves developing and implementing strategies for personnel, technology, and facility resources to meet SFPUC's operational needs and strategic priorities. The DCAO directly manages the Facilities Team, Fleet Management Services, Community Benefits, and the Office of the CAO.
Responsibilities
- Develops and implements agency-wide objectives, policies, and priorities for Professional Services.
- Directs subordinate staff, including goal setting, work plan preparation, and performance management.
- Facilitates the implementation and improvement of digital transformation projects across Professional Services teams.
- Directs resource allocation to achieve timely outcomes and measurable goals within budget.
- Monitors and improves the efficiency and effectiveness of the departmental organization structure and administrative systems.
- Participates in budget development and monitors operating budget expenditures.
- Directs the Community Benefits director to ensure the success of the SFPUC Community Engagement, Social Impacts and Benefits program.
- Directs the Facilities Manager to ensure the 525 Headquarters are compliant, secure, safe, and fully operational.
- Directs the Fleet Manager in the successful lifecycle of commercial vehicles, focusing on cost-effective operations and safety.
- Oversees and manages all contracting support for Professional Services.
- Partners with key division leadership to integrate professional support services and drive organizational process improvements.
Requirements
- Possession of a baccalaureate degree from an accredited college.
- Four years of verifiable management experience overseeing projects and/or programs.
- All four years of management experience must include supervision of professionals.
- Additional qualifying experience may substitute for the education requirement on a year-for-year basis for up to 2 years.
