About the Role

We are seeking an experienced software engineer to contribute to code generation within the open-source OxCaml compiler. OxCaml is Jane Street’s OCaml variant, designed for high-performance and parallel programming with data race freedom. This role encompasses the entire optimization cycle, from identification and coding to testing, benchmarking, and deployment. You will engage with diverse intermediate representations and collaborate with global teams at Jane Street.

Responsibilities

Identify new optimizations
Code optimizations
Test optimizations
Benchmark optimizations
Deploy optimizations
Work with intermediate representations (CPS, SSA, Sea of Nodes)
Interact with various teams and individuals across Jane Street

Requirements

Experience with debuggers (e.g., lldb, gdb)
Experience with low-level Linux tools
Experience managing a team of developers is highly desired
Willingness to use AI assistance for faster production changes

Skills

Compiler toolchain experience
x86-64 assembly language and architectural level knowledge is a plus
AArch64 assembly language and architectural level knowledge is a plus
LLVM knowledge is useful
