About the Role

Jane Street is seeking a technologist to support buying across memory, NAND, and CPU infrastructure. This role is central to our technology stack, focusing on enhancing hardware relationships and strengthening partnerships with critical vendors. The ideal candidate will manage complex commercial deals and collaborate with internal teams to define and challenge requirements.

Responsibilities

• Owning direct relationships with strategic component manufacturers across DRAM, NAND, and CPU
• Leading the full lifecycle of commercial and technical negotiations for securing multi-year capacity contracts and allocations from manufacturers
• Partnering with engineering and Infrastructure teams to translate technical requirements into sourcing strategy
• Feeding supply-side intelligence back into capacity planning
• Forecasting demand and managing the supply pipeline against the firm's growth in compute and storage
• Providing a view of component supplier vs. OEM/ODM allocation commitments

Requirements

• Understanding of hardware and strategic sourcing
• Familiarity with hardware procurement and deployment life cycle for hyperscalers, OEMs, ODMs, and component manufacturers
• Experience building and cultivating supplier relationships
• Deep working understanding of allocation cycles and consigned/customer-furnished component models
• Experienced with negotiating long-term supply agreements
• Sufficient technical depth to engage with engineers on hardware usage
• Comfortable with commercial complexity, including netting allocations, handling warranties for non-OEM-sourced parts, and engaging brokers and distributors
• Willingness and ability to learn a new domain
• Strong negotiation skills
• Ability to work collaboratively with internal partners and push hard with external vendors
• Interest in understanding both macro-level strategy and micro-level details of the procurement process
