About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Senior Data Center Engineer to ensure Jane Street’s data is safe and accessible 24/7. This role involves hands-on work, process thinking, and project management within our data and colocation centers. You will design, build, scale, and maintain our data environments, collaborating with diverse teams to optimize operations and prevent issues.
Responsibilities
- Design plans for new equipment deployments using data center best practices
- Coordinate logistical tasks across locations, including procurement, shipping, moving, and inventory management
- Install and configure server OS in a PXE environment
- Install, cable, configure, and troubleshoot network and server equipment
- Ensure data centers meet high standards for security, organization, documentation, safety, cleanliness, and supply management
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience in a data center environment
- Strong understanding of data center best practices and cabling methodology
- Self-starter with initiative and a drive for continuous improvement
- Clear communicator with excellent people and project management skills
- Ability to design, deploy, test, and troubleshoot copper and fiber cabling
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and climb ladders
- Willingness to perform some evening and weekend work, with flexible scheduling options
