About the Role
Production Engineers at Jane Street are software developers who split their time between developing software and providing high-quality support for critical trading systems. They interact with various departments, solve real-time issues, and impact the firm-wide architecture and design of monitoring and support systems. They also design and develop their own tools.
Responsibilities
- Split time between OCaml software development project work and a support rotation.
- Actively resolve live issues in Jane Street’s critical systems.
- Learn about different systems and how they fit together.
- Collaborate with other dev and business teams across the firm.
- Add value to Jane Street through problem-solving and support.
- Help others, enable good trades, and resolve complex and urgent production issues.
- Take ownership of the architecture and design of systems that monitor and support the firm’s trading.
- Design and develop tools used by the team.
Requirements
- Strong programmer with a love for technology.
- Able to write and read code well.
- Intellectually curious person who is motivated, collaborative, and eager to learn.
- Excellent communicator, able to be clear and calm during production incidents.
- Fluency in English required.
