About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Software Engineer with deep macOS software expertise to build and maintain internal macOS applications and services. This role involves hands-on development, guiding the team on best practices, and contributing to cross-platform services. You will also play a key role in improving our team's macOS engineering practices, including CI/CD, automated builds, and development tooling.
Responsibilities
- Build and maintain macOS internal applications and services.
- Lead on the platform side of macOS growth.
- Provide hands-on development and guide the team on reasonable and effective development practices.
- Contribute to user-facing applications and lower-level system work.
- Interface with backend services.
- Receive training to work in OCaml and contribute to services and applications across a variety of languages and stacks.
- Establish CI/CD pipelines and automated builds.
- Improve development tooling.
- Define best practices for the macOS platform.
- Provide technical guidance on macOS capabilities and implementation.
- Collaborate with engineers and stakeholders to understand requirements, plan work, and deliver solutions.
- Contribute outside of primary expertise, picking up new languages and tools.
- Work effectively in small, collaborative teams.
Requirements
- Significant professional experience building and shipping macOS applications.
- Strong expertise in the Apple ecosystem.
- Strong working knowledge of Swift.
- Comfortable reading and modifying Objective-C.
- Deep understanding of macOS end-to-end functionality, including application structure, OS interaction, software packaging, delivery, and behavior in managed environments.
- Experience building and shipping user interfaces on macOS with SwiftUI, AppKit, or both.
- Familiarity with modern dev tooling for the Apple platform, including CI/CD, automated builds, code signing, and notarization.
- Understanding of how managed macOS environments work in practice, or a strong interest in learning.
- Interest in contributing outside of primary expertise.
- Strong people skills.
- Familiarity with iOS development is a plus.
