About the Role

coni + partner is searching for a Legal Counsel PE Fund Investment Compliance for their client, a large international fund manager in Zurich. This role involves supporting the investment team, providing guidance on investments and partnerships, and ensuring compliance with tax laws and regulations.

Responsibilities

• Support investment team and provide guidance for company’s participation in investments and strategic partnerships.
• Research compliance issues and interpret tax laws and rulings to resolve a wide variety of tax questions.
• Review tax returns filed by external advisors and the processes of tax reporting.
• Advise on tax compliance aspects of private equity business and support FATCA and CRS matters.
• Review W-9 forms.
• Manage the annual process of complying with tax obligations in various jurisdictions.
• Research and interpret tax laws and regulations affecting private equity investments.
• Collaborate with investment teams on tax due diligence processes, tax structuring, and analyzing tax scenarios.
• Monitor tax procedures and controls to ensure correct and timely execution.
• Assess changes in international and domestic taxation and their impact on fund investments.
• Ensure compliance with U.S. federal, state, and international tax obligations.
• Participate in ad hoc tax projects, provide direct ad hoc support, and conduct trainings.

Requirements

• Professional experience at a Big Four firm or a top-tier law firm is required.
• Experience in international tax law, US tax, and investment compliance (FATCA, CRS).
• Knowledge of corporation tax law and the formation and investment activities of private equity funds.
• Ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines.
• Interest in project work.
• Proficiency in MS Office.
