About the Role

Reporting to the Corporate Controller, the Bookkeeper/Corporate Accountant is responsible for daily and monthly functional accounting, supporting financial reporting, performing key tasks related to fiscal period closings, and analyzing InnVest’s performance. This role also involves ad-hoc project work and acting as a direct accounting contact for InnVest’s managed properties.

Responsibilities

  • Perform month-end closing procedures, including journal entries, accruals, and bank reconciliations for multiple entities.
  • Reconcile balance sheet accounts for multiple trial balances monthly.
  • Resolve discrepancies between the Property Management System (PMS) and the General Ledger.
  • Prepare monthly manual payroll journal entries and reconcile all payroll-related accounts.
  • Execute daily, monthly, and periodic accounting and financial reporting accurately and timely.
  • Record and balance intercompany transactions.
  • Complete regulatory filings (HST/PST/QST/WSIB, etc.).
  • Manage fixed asset monthly roll-forwards and maintain continuity schedules for managed assets.
  • Analyze financial statements.
  • Support the annual audit and respond to auditor inquiries.
  • Assist properties with the annual budget process.
  • Aid in testing system upgrades.
  • Collaborate with business or finance teams to gather data for month-end close.
  • Review accounting processes and procedures, recommending improvements for internal controls and efficiencies.
  • Assist in preparing ad hoc reports as needed.

Requirements

  • 1-2 years of previous experience in an accounting environment; hotel experience is an asset.
  • Advanced MS Excel skills.
  • Bilingualism (French is a valuable asset).
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Strong sense of ownership.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Demonstrated customer service skills, with the ability to resolve conflicts.
