About the Role
Reporting to the Corporate Controller, the Bookkeeper/Corporate Accountant is responsible for daily and monthly functional accounting, supporting financial reporting, performing key tasks related to fiscal period closings, and analyzing InnVest’s performance. This role also involves ad-hoc project work and acting as a direct accounting contact for InnVest’s managed properties.
Responsibilities
- Perform month-end closing procedures, including journal entries, accruals, and bank reconciliations for multiple entities.
- Reconcile balance sheet accounts for multiple trial balances monthly.
- Resolve discrepancies between the Property Management System (PMS) and the General Ledger.
- Prepare monthly manual payroll journal entries and reconcile all payroll-related accounts.
- Execute daily, monthly, and periodic accounting and financial reporting accurately and timely.
- Record and balance intercompany transactions.
- Complete regulatory filings (HST/PST/QST/WSIB, etc.).
- Manage fixed asset monthly roll-forwards and maintain continuity schedules for managed assets.
- Analyze financial statements.
- Support the annual audit and respond to auditor inquiries.
- Assist properties with the annual budget process.
- Aid in testing system upgrades.
- Collaborate with business or finance teams to gather data for month-end close.
- Review accounting processes and procedures, recommending improvements for internal controls and efficiencies.
- Assist in preparing ad hoc reports as needed.
Requirements
- 1-2 years of previous experience in an accounting environment; hotel experience is an asset.
- Advanced MS Excel skills.
- Bilingualism (French is a valuable asset).
- Strong attention to detail.

- Demonstrated customer service skills, with the ability to resolve conflicts.
