About the Role
The HR Administrator supports the Human Resources Leadership Team in building and maintaining a progressive, strategic, and results-driven HR department that operates with administrative excellence to support the vision and mission of The Riverside Church. This role performs work of light to moderate difficulty in human resources and benefits administration.
Responsibilities
- Answers phones for the HR department.
- Assists employees and supervisors with basic interpretation of HR policies and procedures.
- Responds to reference checks and verifications of employment status.
- Assists the HR leadership team with HR projects.
- Assists and assumes increasing responsibility with managing individual ADP HRIS modules (benefits, paid time off policies, time and attendance, payroll, etc.).
- Assists recruitment process (excluding managerial levels and above), including job postings, pre-screening potential candidates, managing candidate correspondence, scheduling interviews, reference checks, and creating hire/rejection letters.
- Coordinates and executes all aspects of onboarding new employees, ensuring compliance with federal, state, local laws, DOE, and DOH requirements.
- Works collaboratively with program staff.
- Participates in benefits administration, including claims resolution, change reporting, and approving invoices for payment.
- Handles staff benefit inquiries and complaints to ensure quick, equitable, courteous resolution.
- Ensures timely and correct processing of all invoices.
- Manages day-to-day maintenance and accuracy of human resources personnel files, records, benefits enrollment, application and claim records for all Church benefit plans, and compiles reports from the database as needed.
- Reviews completed timecard data to confirm pay detail compliance with Church policies and ensures accurate transmission of pay details in ADP.
- Responsible for the accuracy of all personnel files and HRIS system records throughout the employee lifecycle.
- Provides high-level customer service to staff and team members by responding promptly to phone and email inquiries.
- Participates in administrative staff meetings and attends other meetings and seminars.
- Performs other related duties as required and assigned.

- Basic knowledge of HR employment related laws and practices preferred.
