About the Role
The Regional Design Technology Manager (RDTM) will coordinate, test, and deploy design technology software and workflow solutions across all disciplines firmwide. This role focuses on BIM products, visualization software, AR/VR, AI, and Autodesk products, with an emphasis on Revit + Dynamo, Rhinoceros + Grasshopper, and other AEC industry software. The RDTM will also manage cloud-based delivery platforms, environmental analysis, and data repositories, and work with developers to create automation tools.
Responsibilities
- Contribute to the global BIM strategy, aligning with organizational goals, industry best practices, and regulatory requirements.
- Develop, implement, and maintain global BIM standards, procedures, and workflows for consistency and quality.
- Promote and facilitate interdisciplinary collaboration and BIM integration across departments and project teams.
- Guide initial project setup and consultant onboarding to ensure best practices and maximum usability of BIM data.
- Assist project teams with complex workflows and tasks, including developing project-specific code and applications.
- Contribute to the management of cloud-based delivery platforms and target training for optimal tool utilization.
- Develop content in Revit, Dynamo, and BIM for families, schedules, data, and definitions.
- Contribute to WATG's BIM education and training efforts, leading content creation for Revit, Dynamo, Rhino, Grasshopper, and related tools.
- Stay current with industry advancements in BIM technology and identify opportunities to enhance WATG’s BIM capabilities.
- Identify and mitigate potential risks and issues related to BIM implementation, developing contingency plans.
- Contribute to the research, development, and implementation of the Revit, Dynamo, Rhino, and Grasshopper design environment, including customizations and plugins.
- Contribute to the development, communication, and training of model and data-driven design methodologies.
- Coordinate the packaging, testing, and deployment of design technology software across the firm.
- Communicate and participate in change management for design-technology-related software updates.
- Manage cloud-based delivery platforms and data repositories, automating processes with internal developers.
- Conduct research on future platforms for design technology and project delivery.
- Contribute to the responses and solutions of help desk and service desk tickets.
- Develop documentation of global and project design technology standards, libraries, and templates.
- Coordinate license renewals.
- Participate in staff evaluations and skills assessments related to software and plugins.
- Promote WATG’s reputation for design technology expertise and quality project delivery, including participation in industry events.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in architecture, engineering, computational design or related field.
- Successful completion of proficiency tests in listed software with a minimum of 5 years of progressive experience with each.
- 10+ years of progressive experience in Rhino, Grasshopper, Revit, BIM/3D modeling, and visualization tools.
- Proficient in AutoCAD.
- Experience with acceleration, analysis, automation, and customization tools.
- Excellent organizational skills.
- Persuasive communication skills in a rapidly changing landscape of design and delivery tools.
