About the Role
Buffalo Hearing & Speech is seeking Special Education Teachers to work with preschool children in special education classrooms at our Rosewood location. This role involves utilizing the Floortime/DIR Philosophy, Pyramid model, and Trauma-Informed Care approach to foster development in speech, language, and readiness skills.
Responsibilities
- Design and implement group lessons focused on speech, language, and readiness skills.
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to develop and implement Individualized Education Plan (IEP) goals.
- Evaluate each child's skill development using formal and informal measures.
- Compile comprehensive reports on children's strengths and needs.
- Determine prognosis and appropriate treatment plans.
- Implement site-specific curriculum and plan classroom environments to encourage learning and skill generalization.
- Facilitate weekly team meetings and classroom planning meetings.
- Participate in CQI meetings.
- Assist and collaborate with the multidisciplinary team for program design and implementation.
- Facilitate the carryover of individual therapy goals to the classroom.
- Model appropriate speech and language.
- Make appropriate referrals as needed.
- Maintain contact with parents or guardians regarding their child's progress.
- Ensure children's supervision and safety.
- Attend CPSE and CSE meetings as necessary.
- Submit high-quality written reports in a timely manner, including evaluation reports, treatment plans, log notes, progress reports, and discharge summaries.
Requirements
- Ability to learn on the job and adapt quickly to changing situations.
- Physical actions may include bending, kneeling, standing, squatting, reaching, printing, crawling, and running.
- Vision, speech, tactical, and hearing senses adequate to perform job requirements.
- Frequent sitting/standing and, when appropriate, floor sitting with pediatric patients.
