About the Role

Buffalo Hearing & Speech is seeking Special Education Teachers to work with preschool children in special education classrooms at our Rosewood location. This role involves utilizing the Floortime/DIR Philosophy, Pyramid model, and Trauma-Informed Care approach to foster development in speech, language, and readiness skills.

Responsibilities

  • Design and implement group lessons focused on speech, language, and readiness skills.
  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to develop and implement Individualized Education Plan (IEP) goals.
  • Evaluate each child's skill development using formal and informal measures.
  • Compile comprehensive reports on children's strengths and needs.
  • Determine prognosis and appropriate treatment plans.
  • Implement site-specific curriculum and plan classroom environments to encourage learning and skill generalization.
  • Facilitate weekly team meetings and classroom planning meetings.
  • Participate in CQI meetings.
  • Assist and collaborate with the multidisciplinary team for program design and implementation.
  • Facilitate the carryover of individual therapy goals to the classroom.
  • Model appropriate speech and language.
  • Make appropriate referrals as needed.
  • Maintain contact with parents or guardians regarding their child's progress.
  • Ensure children's supervision and safety.
  • Attend CPSE and CSE meetings as necessary.
  • Submit high-quality written reports in a timely manner, including evaluation reports, treatment plans, log notes, progress reports, and discharge summaries.

Requirements

  • Ability to learn on the job and adapt quickly to changing situations.
  • Physical actions may include bending, kneeling, standing, squatting, reaching, printing, crawling, and running.
  • Vision, speech, tactical, and hearing senses adequate to perform job requirements.
  • Frequent sitting/standing and, when appropriate, floor sitting with pediatric patients.

Salary/Compensations

  • $55,001.95 - $70,127.49
