About the Role
Join AMBOSS as a Financial Systems Architect to shape the future of medical education. You will be a key member of a new Systems team, owning the configuration, optimization, and support of Workday and its integrations. This role offers broad scope, direct stakeholder access, and the opportunity to drive module expansions, new integrations, and continuous improvement across the finance systems landscape.
Responsibilities
- Configure, maintain, and continuously improve the Workday Financials backbone for end-to-end finance processes: record-to-report, procure-to-pay, order-to-cash, and bank connectivity.
- Design and manage business process configurations, security roles, and domain policies in alignment with finance and audit requirements.
- Build and maintain custom reports, dashboards, and calculated fields for Finance and leadership.
- Design and manage integrations for seamless data flow across systems, including order-to-cash, procure-to-pay, tax, and bank connectivity.
- Recommend optimal systems for problem resolution to ensure simple end-to-end processes and clean data.
- Lead system testing (unit, regression, UAT) for configuration changes, Workday releases, and new feature adoptions.
- Partner with cross-functional stakeholders to gather requirements, translate business needs into system solutions, and deliver scalable configurations.
- Provide Tier 2/3 support for Workday Financials issues, troubleshoot root causes, and implement lasting fixes.
- Support Workday module expansions, re-implementations, and cross-functional projects as the Finance systems SME.
- Maintain system documentation including configuration guides, process flows, and change logs.
Requirements
- Minimum 2 years of hands-on Workday Financials configuration experience across core modules (GL, AP, AR).
- Experience with the Workday business process framework and security configuration.
- Strong Workday reporting skills including custom reports and calculated fields.
- Experience connecting SaaS business systems: APIs, integration patterns, and clean data flows between tools.
- Ability to think in end-to-end processes across systems rather than in single tools.
- Understanding of core accounting concepts (chart of accounts, period close, reconciliations).
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a structured approach to troubleshooting.
- Excellent communication skills: able to translate technical concepts for finance audiences and vice versa.
