About the Role
Interstate Waste Services is hiring CDL B Front Load Swing Truck Drivers. Safety is a top priority. Front load garbage truck experience is required. This is a year-round, steady work opportunity with occasional Saturday hours.
Responsibilities
- Safely operate front, side, or rear-loading trucks for the pick-up service of bags or containers filled with waste or recyclable material.
- Transport material to a disposal, transfer, or recycle facility, potentially making multiple trips per shift.
- Navigate through congested communities and confined or tight areas in city locations.
- Perform highly skilled backing maneuvers.
- Routinely climb in and out of the truck cab to service customer accounts.
- Perform driver pre and post inspections.
- Ensure truck compliance with safety standards, OSHA, DOT regulations, and local traffic laws before and during operation.
Requirements
- Include a resume or list job history when applying.
- 1 year of verifiable CDL driving experience within the last 7 years.
- 18 years of age and legally eligible to work in the United States.
- Valid Class A or B CDL.
- Airbrake endorsement.
- Great safety record and clean MVR.
- Experience as a driver or helper for a refuge company is highly preferred.
- Working knowledge of DOT, OSHA, and applicable traffic regulations.
- Ability to speak and read English to converse with the general public, understand highway traffic and signals, respond to official questions, and make legible entries on reports and records.
- Ability to read and understand a map.
- Willing and able to work required hours as allowed under DOT regulation, which may include weekend, night, and/or holiday work.
- Meet physical and safety requirements of the position, including the ability to repeatedly lift up to 50 pounds, move and maneuver up to 100 pounds, and mount/dismount the truck multiple times per route.
