About the Role
St. John's Riverside Hospital is seeking an MRI Technologist to perform MRI procedures with technical proficiency and independent judgment. The role involves ensuring patient care and safety during treatments and equipment use, minimizing hazards, and performing quality control checks. The technologist will be responsible for producing high-quality imaging, adhering to equipment operating instructions, and completing annual educational requirements.
Responsibilities
- Performs MRI procedures at a technical level not requiring constant supervision.
- Applies imaging techniques requiring independent judgment, ingenuity, and initiative for diagnosis.
- Assumes responsibility for designated areas or procedures.
- Ensures the care and safety of patients undergoing treatment and minimizes hazards from equipment.
- Determines optimal patient posture and positions, and shields patients appropriately.
- Assesses patient pain that interferes with imaging and contacts physicians for intervention if necessary.
- Takes call according to a monthly schedule after regular department hours.
- Performs all prescribed quality control checks and maintains accurate logs.
- Produces the highest quality imaging consistent with the prescribed examination and documents any deviations.
- Practices proper use of all equipment according to manufacturer's instructions.
- Completes annual educational requirements and assigned duties.
- Maintains PAR levels.
- Disposes of biomedical waste following CDC and OSHA guidelines.
Requirements
- Current NYS Radiologic Technology license/registration, including permit for injections.
- Graduate of an approved school for Radiologic Technology.
- Two years of experience is preferred.
- Must possess strong communication skills.
- Must have a good understanding of verbal and written instructions.
