About the Role

This course provides a brave space for Black self-identified educators and practitioners to deconstruct Black identity from an intersectional lens, navigating power, privilege, and oppression. It offers opportunities for Black educators to share experiences, build connections, and learn from each other in a healing, affirming, and culturally responsive environment. The course examines historical and current realities of Black educators, encouraging reflection and action for sustaining Black identities and communities. It will explore liberation and non-hegemonic pedagogies, decentering Eurocentrism, decolonization, critical pedagogy, advocacy, activism, leadership, and centering Black excellence. The course aims to foster critical conversations and actions for Black joy and reimagine Black futurities in education.
