About the Role
Gap Inc. is transforming how its brands use data and AI to make faster, more precise commercial decisions. The Analyst, Pricing Optimization is the analytical foundation of the brand's pricing function, executing day-to-day models, preparing data, validating outputs, and ensuring accurate analysis to inform pricing and promotional decisions. This individual contributor role is for someone analytically precise, eager to build skills in an AI-enabled pricing environment, and ready to be a foundational contributor to a function being built from scratch.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and maintain pricing and promotional data for assigned brand work streams, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and readiness for analysis and modeling.
- Run pricing models and scenario analyses, applying elasticity inputs, sensitivity parameters, and promotional variables to generate accurate outputs.
- Quality-check outputs from pricing agents across assigned categories, validating data inputs and flagging anomalies.
- Support in-season monitoring of pricing actions, tracking performance against plan and surfacing data for optimization opportunities.
- Utilize AI reporting tools and pricing platforms for daily analysis, maintaining data integrity and escalating issues as needed.
- Assemble analytical work into organized supporting materials for business reviews and stakeholder discussions.
- Prepare data pulls, performance summaries, and analytical inputs for weekly and monthly business reviews.
- Translate analytical outputs into commercial framing, connecting data insights to margin, revenue, or promotional performance.
- Respond to analytical requests with accuracy and timeliness.
- Contribute to the training and refinement of pricing agents by documenting and sharing observations on model performance.
- Help build shared documentation and analytical standards for the team.
- Contribute ideas and a curious mindset to the development of the pricing function's analytical processes.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree required.
- 1-4 years of experience in pricing analytics, demand planning, merchandise planning, commercial analytics, or a related field, including internship or co-op experience in retail or consumer products.
- Foundational analytical skills and a strong desire to build proficiency in pricing model execution.
- Experience or aptitude for working with AI-generated analytical outputs, including applying, reviewing, and quality-checking them.
- Comfort with reporting and analytics platforms, with the ability to learn tools quickly.
- Demonstrated ability to produce clean, well-organized analytical work.
- Analytically precise with a high personal bar for data accuracy and ownership.
- Commercially curious, with a desire to understand the business impact of analytical work.
- Clear and organized communicator, presenting data and analysis in an easy-to-follow manner.
- AI-partnership mindset, engaging with pricing agents and tools with curiosity and rigor.
