About the Role

The Director, Business Development will lead the firm's national business development efforts, driving revenue growth through client relationship expansion and acquisition. This is a hands-on role for a senior professional with strategic thinking, strong leadership, and client relationship management skills.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive national business development strategy.
  • Identify new business opportunities and market trends.
  • Collaborate with practice and specialty groups to grow existing client relationships.
  • Lead the development of proposals, pitches, and presentations.
  • Monitor and analyze business development metrics and KPIs.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with industry influencers and external stakeholders.
  • Represent the firm at industry events, conferences, and networking functions.
  • Stay informed about industry trends, market developments, and competitor activities.
  • Lead a team of approximately 15 business development professionals, providing direction, support, and mentorship.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 10+ years' experience in business development, preferably within a national law firm or professional services firm.
  • Proven track record in developing and implementing successful business development strategies.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage and motivate a team.
  • Experience in managing large and diverse teams.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strategic thinker with a results-oriented mindset.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and identify trends.
  • Excellent presentation skills at the executive level.
  • Experience in establishing processes and implementing them.
  • Organized and adaptable.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Knowledge of CRM systems.
