About the Role
The Housekeeping Manager will assist in managing daily housekeeping functions and staff to ensure guest rooms, public spaces, and team member areas are clean and well-maintained. This role involves inspecting areas, developing improvement plans, and maximizing departmental financial performance while enhancing guest and team member satisfaction. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, meticulous, and skilled at engaging with both team members and guests.
Responsibilities
- Verify guest room status communication with the Front Desk.
- Inspect guest rooms daily.
- Prepare work assignments using lists of rooms to be cleaned and prospective check-outs.
- Inventory stock to ensure adequate supplies.
- Supervise an effective inspection program for guest rooms and public spaces.
- Understand the impact of department operations on overall hotel success.
- Verify team members have proper supplies, equipment, and uniforms.
- Communicate areas needing attention to staff and ensure completion.
- Participate in departmental meetings and communicate departmental goals.
- Utilize on-the-job training tools to train new Room Attendants and provide follow-up training.
- Establish and maintain open, collaborative relationships with team members.
- Participate in scheduling team members based on business demands and track time and attendance.
- Verify team members understand expectations and parameters.
- Administer property policies fairly and consistently, including disciplinary procedures and documentation.
- Supervise staffing levels to meet housekeeping, operational, and financial objectives.
- Observe team member behaviors and provide feedback.
- Participate in an ongoing team member recognition program.
- Solicit team member feedback, utilize an open door policy, and review satisfaction results to address concerns.
- Participate in the development and implementation of corrective action plans to improve guest satisfaction.
- Emphasize guest satisfaction and continuous improvement during departmental meetings.
- Respond to and handle guest problems and complaints.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- 2 years of experience in hotel housekeeping or a related field.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Effective listening skills to understand and clarify concerns.
- Experience working in a labor-organized environment is preferred.
- Organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office.
- Excellent time management skills.
- A can-do attitude and a hands-on approach.
- Flexible schedule availability for days, nights, holidays, and weekends.
