About the Role

Oversee the work of the Planning & Scheduling team, project staff, and consultants for a major construction project. Ensure scheduling compliance with contract requirements and manage the entire project scheduling program for consistency, risks, and standard reporting.

Responsibilities

• Oversee the scheduling program for a major/large construction project with sub-project hierarchy.
• Lead, manage, and supervise project scheduling team activities.
• Review full Critical Path Method (CPM) logic-generated baseline schedules for seamless integration of sub-projects.
• Communicate project execution plan and conduct project schedule reviews with leadership and stakeholders.
• Assure scheduling compliance with contract requirements.
• Develop program monthly reports to identify and mitigate risks.
• Act as a Planning & Scheduling subject matter expert to clients, educating and influencing expectations.
• Participate in project task force to collaborate with other departments and ensure schedule reflects the project execution plan.
• Review and address cost and/or resource loaded schedules for deficiencies.
• Guide the Planning & Scheduling group to implement consistent application of company scheduling policies.
• Conduct project site progress walks to verify progress with the scheduling team.
• Challenge sub-project teams based on schedule data to ensure logical construction sequencing and guide recovery plan generation.
• Perform audits of project schedules to validate health and quality.
• Provide feedback to the Scheduling group to mature scheduling practices.
• Implement and educate the Planning & Scheduling group on advanced scheduling techniques.
• Lead and provide schedule analysis to support, defend against, or initiate a claim.
• Manage the Planning & Scheduling group, including hiring, onboarding, performance feedback, and development.
• Other activities, duties, and responsibilities as assigned.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree from accredited degree program in Engineering, Construction Management, Building Construction, or related field.
• Minimum of 12 years of related experience or equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
• Broad scope and various complexity of large construction projects (>$500m) highly desired.
• Experience in construction project engineering and supervision positions.
• Complex commissioning experience, desired.
• Extensive knowledge of building construction, materials, systems, market conditions, and Trade practices.
• Advanced experience developing metrics, tracking results, conducting gap analysis, and managing scheduling risks.
• Advanced knowledge of estimates for project schedule development.
• Demonstrate elements of emotional intelligence including self-awareness, social awareness, self-management, and relationship management.
• Knowledge of earned value concepts and using construction resources to validate productivity and durations.
• Exceptional ability to lead and support change delays and claims.
• Strong analysis, critical thinking, good judgment, and problem-solving skills.
• Adept to manage through ambiguity and changing environments and demands.
• Physical ability to climb permanent and temporary stairs, passenger use of construction personnel hoists, ability to climb ladders and negotiate work areas under construction.
• Frequently required to sit, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools, or controls, and reach with hands, talk, and hear.
• Frequently views a computer monitor and frequently uses a computer keyboard.
• Specific vision abilities required include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
• Regularly required to be mobile.
• Occasionally travels both short and long distances via a variety of conveyances.
• Occasionally performs work on-site at construction work sites, office locations, and/or off-site venues.
• Regularly required to lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
• Works at construction work sites where exposed to moving mechanical parts, high precarious places, fumes, or airborne particles, outside weather conditions, and risk of electrical shock.
• Works in an office or remote setting.
• Required to work in compliance with company safety policies, procedures, and applicable laws.
