About the Role
This role offers an outstanding opportunity to join a best-in-class 2nd Line of Defense (LOD) Risk management function, promoting an active risk management culture and providing risk oversight. You will act as a subject matter expert, advising assigned lines of business on risk program management, including risks, controls, testing, remediation, loss analysis, key risk indicators, reporting, and policy development. You will ensure the risk program aligns with the Risk Policy within the Enterprise Wide Risk Management Framework and oversee regulatory risks such as Operational Risks, Financial Crime Risks, and Outsourcing Risks.
Responsibilities
- Contribute to shaping risk awareness & culture across the organisation by developing a strong understanding of risks, and risk management processes
- Identify and monitor risks within the organization
- Review the Risk Management dashboards, including KRIs, to monitor risks across the organization and tailor reports for different organizational levels
- Contribute to the further development of 2nd LOD Risk processes and tools
- Contribute to policies, standards, and procedures in alignment with the Risk Framework
- Help LOBs follow Risk Policies by providing feedback and guidance on managing risks, setting up controls, conducting tests, fixing issues, and reporting major risk and control problems
- Review internal events, near misses, industry trends, and regulatory updates to evaluate the control environment and decide if actions are needed to reduce potential risks
- Assist the 1st Line of Defiance and other corporate initiatives in reducing operational risks
- Maintain effective and communication with senior management, regulatory agencies, legal counsel, and internal and external auditors
- Support the CRO by leading or contributing to operational risk projects, initiatives, working groups, or other tasks to achieve team goals
- Lead key initiatives such as Control Assurance and themed reviews, Business support on action tracking and management, Resolution Planning, Scenario Analysis, and Deep dives & root cause analysis
Requirements
- Strong Analytical Capability
- Experience working with data (SQL, Python, or similar strongly preferred)
- Ability to analyse complex datasets and identify meaningful insights
- 3–5 years’ experience in Fraud risk / transaction risk /Payments /fintech/ acquiring /Risk analytics or consulting
- Understanding of chargebacks and transaction flows is a strong advantage
- Exposure to merchant or SME risk
- Understanding of how business models impact risk exposure
- Ability to move from data → insight → recommendation
- Ability to work cross-functionally and influence discussions
- Comfortable interacting with both business and technical teams
