About the Role
The Housekeeping Assistant Manager will help to deliver the highest quality of service to our guests, solve problems, and remain composed in challenging situations at The Pierre Hotel, a historic luxury hotel known for its commitment to excellence.
Responsibilities
- Ensure service and production are provided in the proper manner, consistent with standards of a Forbes Five Star Luxury Hotel.
- Complete schedules and monitor staffing for maximum service, quality, efficiency, and productivity.
- Monitor staffing fluctuations based on occupancy.
- Monitor daily assignments to ensure proper quotas and standards are maintained.
- Establish safe working conditions and practices.
- Participate in physical inventories of uniforms, linens, and supplies.
- Work directly with outside contracted companies on hotel premises.
- Organize and participate in regular staff meetings.
- Ensure employees receive ongoing training and development.
- Assist with updating training materials.
- Ensure timely completion and submission of payroll reports and sign-in sheets.
- Oversee the start of housekeeping shifts.
- Participate in monitoring cost management for inventories, supplies, labor, and energy.
- Maintain good working relationships with all hotel departments.
- Make scheduled checks of the hotel, noting deficiencies and ensuring follow-up.
- Participate in a consistent rooms inspection/Quality Control program.
- Supervise the Laundry/Valet Department, monitoring standards for guest service, efficiency, safety, productivity, quality, and personnel.
- Become familiar with the Uniform Room operations and monitor its standards.
- Review and ensure timely and professional handling of all work orders.
- Periodically review, re-evaluate, and revise departmental procedures, job descriptions, supplies, equipment, and labor standards.
- Ensure all security policies and procedures are observed.
- Assume operational responsibilities in the absence of the Director of Housekeeping.
- Perform other tasks or projects as assigned by hotel management.
Requirements
- At least 2 years of previous Housekeeping management/supervisory experience in a luxury hotel environment.
- Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office and knowledge of a property management system.
- Ability to engage with guests.
- Prior Union experience is a plus.
- Great employee relations is necessary.
- Strong attention to detail.
- A positive attitude and ability to work well with a diverse staff.
- Strong leadership and customer service skills.
- Flexible schedule including overnights and weekends.
- Multilingual ability is a plus.
- Ability to multitask and thrive in a fast-paced, luxury environment.
