About the Role
HTSI, the FT’s multi-award-winning luxury lifestyle magazine, is seeking a deputy chief sub editor to help shape its fully integrated print and digital content. This role offers a chance to join a title known for its sharp journalism, imaginative storytelling, and distinctive visual style, covering design, fashion, interiors, travel, and culture.
Responsibilities
- Ensure accurate spelling and grammar.
- Maintain commitment to factual accuracy across all HTSI output.
- Handle copy with sensitivity and manage relationships with writers.
- Write sophisticated display copy that resonates with the magazine's readership, both online and offline.
- Create compelling and clickable online headlines.
- Manage, update, and publish live stories, including out-of-office hours responsibilities during evenings and weekends.
- Deputize for the chief sub editor in their absence.
Requirements
- At least a few years of subbing experience on a consumer magazine.
- Experience working on both print and digital output.
- Ability to implement the FT’s house style effortlessly.
- Ability to respect copy and editorial choices.
- Rigorous eye for grammar and spacing.
- Flexible and responsive work ethic.
- Strong leadership skills.
- Ability to adapt to change throughout the working day.
- Enjoy and engage creatively with HTSI’s content.
- Refrain from using AI in test submissions.
- Applicants should only employ AI as a tool to help with research and interview readiness.
