Responsibilities

  • Promote a safe, cooperative, and professional healthcare environment to ensure optimum patient care.
  • Adhere to all hospital policies, procedures, rules, and regulations.
  • Prioritize customer service, treating patients, visitors, and coworkers professionally with courtesy and tact.
  • Effectively communicate SBH services and ensure concerns reach the appropriate personnel promptly.
  • Demonstrate performance standards and behaviors consistent with the DRIVE to Patient-Centered Excellence.
  • Conduct individual counseling sessions, open and closed groups, and family/conjoint counseling sessions.
  • Present alcoholism and substance abuse educational information to patients and significant others.
  • Function as part of an inter-disciplinary team and ensure referrals to appropriate modalities based on patient needs.
  • Write clear, timely, and concise progress notes, including areas of conflict, short-term/long-term treatment planning, and psychosocial history.
  • Assess new patients upon admission.
  • Conduct small group activities.
  • Maintain and enhance professional growth and development through in-services, seminars, workshops, and professional affiliations.
  • Function in a leadership capacity and serve as a resource person for counselors.
  • Provide timely progress reports to referring agencies.
  • Understand the Diversion Prevention Plan for the Methadone Substance Abuse Treatment Program and Medical Managed Detox Unit.

Requirements

  • 1-3 years of experience working in Addiction Medicine.
