About the Role
The Bulk Lead provides leadership to the Bulk team, overseeing department organization, atmosphere, and staffing. They ensure department standards are met, maintain a positive work environment, and deliver exceptional guest care. This role actively participates in all Bulk Department tasks, serves as a role model, and manages inventory replenishment using various tools to meet purchasing and budget goals.
Responsibilities
- Ensure bins and shelves are consistently stocked with Bulk products.
- Maintain meticulous attention to inventory levels, backstock, and cycle counts.
- Make inventory decisions based on data and collaboration with the Center Store Manager.
- Prioritize speed-to-shelf, proper product rotation, cycle counts, and new product placement.
- Maintain a clean and organized Bulk Department.
- Train and manage staff to keep the Bulk Department interesting, easy to navigate, clean, and fully stocked.
- Lead and motivate Bulk staff.
- Ensure staff adherence to department and store policies and procedures.
- Troubleshoot staff call-outs and find coverage or reassign staff as needed.
- Communicate staff issues to the Center Store Manager and P&E.
- Ensure staff remain busy and work safely throughout their shifts.
- Delegate cleaning tasks in the Bulk Department.
- Train new staff members and provide ongoing training to current Bulk staff.
- Assist with training manuals, task lists, cleaning procedures, and policies.
- Complete replenishment ordering for all vendors in designated departments/categories.
- Maintain accuracy of inventory and cycle counts.
- Foster strong vendor relationships and communication.
- Track product performance trends and sales, relaying information to the Category Manager.
- Track product movement and out-of-stocks, relaying information to the Category Manager.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- At least 2 years of retail experience.
- Previous leadership experience.
- Previous cash handling and POS experience.
- Previous buying, inventory management, or equivalent experience.
- Previous guest service experience.
- Previous grocery experience preferred.
