About the Role

The Senior Project Manager will be responsible for planning and implementing projects, identifying issues, advising on strategy and communications, recommending solutions, and responding to the objectives and priorities of the Office of the President. This role ensures the efficient and effective execution of the President’s Office work through project management and implementation, leading initiatives from concept to completion, facilitating project work to meet deadlines, and coordinating stakeholders. The incumbent provides confidential support and collaborates on defining and achieving office goals, advancing projects, and undertaking initiatives requiring knowledge of confidential information within a dynamic environment.

Responsibilities

  • Planning and implementation of projects

  • Responding to the objectives and priorities of the Office of the President
  • Leading full-scale initiatives from concept to implementation
  • Facilitating project work to ensure deliverables are met within the required timelines
  • Coordinating the interface among all the project stakeholders
  • Providing administrative support and strategic advice related to issues management
  • Undertaking detailed research and analysis on a wide range of topics related to the President’s Office
  • Following up on decisions made and monitoring supports and best practices
  • Assisting with and advancing projects
  • Undertaking initiatives and daily activities within the Office of the President that require knowledge of confidential information

Requirements

  • Minimum five (5) years’ experience in a University setting in progressively senior positions
  • Extensive experience with the University, knowledge of university policies and procedures, and an understanding of the University’s organizational structure, including its governance
  • Knowledge about media (including traditional, new and social media), protocol, diplomacy and an excellent understanding of the University’s mission and intersection with the broader community
  • Experience leading complex and multi-stakeholder projects

  • Advanced computer skills in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Ability to set up templates and macros in Word and Excel
  • Ability to set up Excel spreadsheets and graphics
  • Ability to prepare sophisticated PowerPoint presentations
  • Familiarity with scheduling software
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Sharepoint
  • Web design skills such as content management software and WordPress
  • Familiarity with Acrobat and other Adobe software
  • Strong research skills
  • Strong writing skills
  • Strong communication skills
  • Strong presentation skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work under pressure
  • Familiarity with University governance, higher education sector, and public sector administration
