About the Role

The Production Planner is responsible for scheduling, coordinating, and expediting the flow of work and materials to meet production capacity, material availability, and customer delivery requirements. This role converts demand, forecasts, and sales orders into executable production schedules that support revenue targets, optimize resource utilization, and ensure on-time delivery.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain daily and weekly production schedules aligning customer demand, forecast requirements, and available capacity.
  • Analyze production capacity, labor availability, equipment constraints, and material lead times to create realistic build plans.
  • Release, sequence, and prioritize work orders within the ERP/MRP system to optimize workflow.
  • Monitor work-in-process levels, material shortages, and schedule adherence to identify and address potential delays.
  • Coordinate with Purchasing to mitigate material shortages and maintain appropriate inventory levels.
  • Communicate schedule updates, priority changes, and potential risks to relevant departments.
  • Maintain and analyze planning metrics, including schedule attainment, on-time delivery, and capacity utilization.
  • Investigate root causes of past-due orders and recommend corrective actions.
  • Ensure ERP/MRP system accuracy through disciplined transaction management and data validation.
  • Perform other duties as assigned in support of operational objectives.

Requirements

  • At least 2 years of experience in production planning, scheduling, supply chain coordination, manufacturing operations, or related analytical roles.
  • Foundational understanding of production flow, inventory management, and material requirements planning concepts.
  • Basic working knowledge of ERP or MRP systems and standard planning transactions.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret data and identify trends.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including data manipulation, formulas, and basic reporting.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills with the ability to collaborate cross-functionally.
  • Demonstrated ability to exercise sound judgment within defined processes and escalate issues appropriately.
  • Ability to perform essential job duties in the described work environment with or without accommodation.
