About the Role

As an English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) Tutor, you will make a significant contribution to the lives of people across Westminster. You will be responsible for delivering high-quality teaching and learning experiences that empower learners to overcome barriers, develop their skills, confidence, and capabilities, ultimately helping them to grow their English language proficiency and achieve their full potential. You will serve as a source of expert advice and guidance, monitor learner progress through one-to-ones and tutorials, and assess learners in line with qualification specifications. This role involves maximizing opportunities, developing resources, and facilitating learner progression.

Responsibilities

  • Provide high-quality teaching and learning experiences
  • Support learners to overcome barriers and develop their skills, confidence, and capabilities
  • Help learners grow their confidence with the English language

Requirements

  • A qualified teacher with a subject specialist qualification at Level 3 or above
  • Hold an assessor award or be willing to work towards one
  • Taught ESOL in an adult, further, or community education setting in a recent role
  • Prepared learners for accredited ESOL Skills for Life qualifications
  • Devise lesson plans or course outlines
  • Confident assessing learners using RARPA processes
  • A true team player
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Excellent organisation skills
  • Excellent time management skills
  • Ability to inspire, motivate, and guide learners to progress, develop new skills, and achieve positive outcomes
  • Care Leavers seeking their first job who meet essential criteria will be automatically invited to interview
