About the Role

As a Street Works Officer, you will make a significant contribution to the lives of people across Westminster. Joining the Council’s vital and high-profile Highways Services, you will be responsible for delivering the permitting of works on the Highway, including issuing licenses, permits, Temporary Traffic Orders, and Crane Licenses. Your role will involve collaborating with stakeholders, monitoring quality standards, and providing expert advice on network management, works coordination, and legislative compliance to ensure staff are effectively tasked for maximum compliance and minimal risk.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver the permitting of works on the Highway
  • Issue licenses, permits, Temporary Traffic Orders, and Crane Licenses
  • Collaborate with a wide range of stakeholders
  • Monitor and challenge quality standards
  • Minimize complaints and maximize efficiency
  • Provide expert advice and guidance on network management, works co-ordination, and legislative compliance
  • Ensure on-street staff are effectively tasked to maximize compliance and minimize risk

Requirements

  • Established professional with experience in street works or Highways Network Management
  • Experience with Traffic Management and ETON complaint software systems
  • Knowledge of Highways Legislation
  • Ability to understand reasons for technical failures in the highway structure
  • Analytical thinker capable of identifying improvement opportunities
  • Proactive in identifying and mitigating risks
  • Team player with excellent time management, problem-solving, and collaboration skills
