About the Role
The FI & Affiliates Associate is a key support role within HSBC CMB UK, providing day-to-day assistance to the Relationship Director / Head of FI & Affiliates across four specialist portfolios operating within the HBUK RFB exceptions framework: Financial Institutions (including Sovereigns and SSAs), Fund Managers/Funds, UK Mortgage-Backed Securities (ABS/RMBS), and HSBC Affiliates (including oversight of HGHQ and HINV).
Responsibilities
- Provide day-to-day support to the RD/Head of FI & Affiliates, planning and prioritizing workload, driving follow-ups, and coordinating actions across the four portfolios.
- Prepare internal materials including packs, trackers, status updates, and action logs.
- Maintain robust systems, records, and evidence packs to support portfolio oversight and auditability.
- Process and manage credit activity in CARM in line with FI & Affiliates requirements, including annual reviews, submissions, remediation, and post-approval actions through to closure.
- Track credit MI, flagging delays and escalating risks early.
- Coordinate with relevant teams to ensure valid KYC/CDD is in place before business is conducted.
- Collate and manage inbound/outbound due diligence for FI/affiliate activity.
- Support management of credit, financial crime, reputational, and KYC/CDD risks in a heightened regulatory environment.
- Support operational risk and governance activities, including RCA participation support, EWRA input collation, and coordination of Affiliate governance papers for HBUK EXCO.
Requirements
- Experience in financial services, supporting coordination, credit/relationship support, KYC/CDD, governance, risk or controls.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to adapt style to the audience, including senior stakeholders.
- Highly organized with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple workflows and deadlines, handling both planned and unexpected issues.
- Strong analytical capability, able to gather and interpret financial/non-financial information and translate it into clear MI and actionable insights.
- Strong risk and control mindset, with high attention to detail and disciplined documentation.
