About the Role
Join eBay’s Financial Services group to help grow our global Insurance business through crafting protection solutions that foster trust and improve the buying and selling experience on eBay’s marketplace. Your focus will be on enabling and managing insurance products linked to marketplace purchases like extended warranties, product protection, and shipping or transaction-related protection. You will also support B2B insurance opportunities for sellers, including liability, cyber, business interruption, and other relevant commercial coverages. This is a highly cross-functional role with global reach. You will collaborate directly with Product & Tech, Legal/Compliance, Risk, Analytics, Marketing, regional business teams, and external insurance partners to launch, scale, and optimize insurance programs across key markets.
Responsibilities
- Manage the strategy, roadmap, economics, and performance of consumer and seller-focused insurance products.
- Take ownership of program P&L, revenue, margin, attach rate, conversion, customer experience, and partner performance.
- Lead the development and rollout of new insurance programs, from opportunity sizing and making the case through partner selection, commercial negotiation, product launch, and ongoing optimization.
- Collaborate with Product, Development, Engineering, Analytics, and regional teams to integrate insurance and protection offers into relevant buyer and seller flows.
- Enhance targeting, offer presentation, eligibility, quote, purchase, servicing, and claims experiences.
- Discover, appraise, negotiate, and maintain relationships with insurers, brokers, MGAs, warranty providers, insurtechs, and other key partners.
- Guide contract negotiations, determine commercial arrangements, carry out performance reviews, and manage operational or commercial issues.
- Work closely with Legal, Compliance, Risk, and partner teams to ensure insurance programs meet applicable regulatory, conduct, marketing, and customer protection standards across markets.
- Support compliant product development, customer communications, and claims-related processes.
- Establish and manage key performance indicators, reporting, and business reviews.
- Use data to find opportunities to improve conversion, attach rates, loss ratios, claims experience, customer happiness, revenue, and margin.
- Identify new products, ways to enter markets, partnership types, and commercial frameworks that improve eBay’s Financial Services for buyers and sellers globally.
Requirements
- Over 8 years of background in insurance, insurtech, financial services, e-commerce, marketplace, retail, or embedded protection products.
- Solid expertise in consumer insurance is essential, preferably involving extended warranties, product protection, purchase protection, device protection, shipping protection, or other insurance offerings related to e-commerce transactions.
- Experience with seller, merchant, SME, or commercial insurance products is preferred, such as general liability, professional liability, cyber insurance, business interruption, goods-in-transit, or other protection products relevant to online sellers.
- Demonstrated experience owning or materially contributing to large-scale program P&L, including revenue, margin, commercial performance, partner economics, and customer or portfolio-level indicators.
- Experience launching new insurance, protection, or financial services programs across one or more markets.
- Experience moving from concept and developing the case to partner selection, implementation, go-to-market, and post-launch optimization.
- Demonstrated proficiency in business development, partner sourcing, commercial negotiation, and contract management.
- Able to structure deals, assess partner capabilities, negotiate commercial terms, and manage performance against agreed goals.
- Practical understanding of how embedded insurance products fit within digital customer journeys.
