About the Role

The laboratory of Dr. Sandeep Mallipattu in the Division of Nephrology, Department of Medicine at Stony Brook University School of Medicine is seeking highly motivated candidates for a postdoctoral fellow position focused on identifying mechanisms involved in the progression of chronic kidney disease. Research includes investigating kidney proliferation, differentiation, and regeneration, studying disease processes like Diabetic Nephropathy and Focal Segmental Glomerulosclerosis, and exploring high-throughput screening for novel therapeutic agents using cell culture, kidney organoids, and mouse models.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct experiments and data analysis within the predetermined research scope and methodology.
  • Perform literature searches and stay current in the field.
  • Participate in writing and preparing manuscripts based on experimental findings.
  • Supervise and train other lab members.
  • Take an active role in oral presentations, manuscript preparation, and grant applications.
  • Conduct experiments using cell culture and mouse models in kidney disease.
  • Perform data analysis and manuscript preparation, including producing figures for manuscripts.
  • Manage laboratory maintenance, including keeping a detailed laboratory notebook.
  • Assist with managing students.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Doctoral degree (or foreign equivalent) in the Biological Sciences or a closely related field by the start of the position.
  • Experience in basic cell and molecular biology techniques in kidney disease research.
  • Excellent writing and communication skills.
