About the Role

Oversee a highly specialized team responsible for delivering comprehensive cytogenetic and molecular cytogenetic testing services in support of patient care, research, and precision medicine initiatives. Lead operations across conventional chromosome analysis, FISH testing, and emerging genomic technologies while fostering a culture of quality, innovation, and continuous improvement within one of the nation's leading academic medical centers.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee a highly specialized team responsible for delivering comprehensive cytogenetic and molecular cytogenetic testing services.
  • Lead operations across conventional chromosome analysis, FISH testing, and emerging genomic technologies.
  • Foster a culture of quality, innovation, and continuous improvement.
  • Support patient care, research, and precision medicine initiatives.
  • Serve as a critical resource for oncologic, prenatal, and constitutional genetic testing.
  • Collaborate closely with geneticists, pathologists, oncologists, and other multidisciplinary clinical teams.
  • Perform duties during emergencies, which may include work on Weekends and Holidays.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 4 years of clinical laboratory experience or 2 years of clinical laboratory experience with Master’s degree or 1 years of experience with a MD, DO or doctoral degree in a chemical, physical or biological science.
  • Bachelor of Science Degree (Medical Technology).
  • New York State Clinical Laboratory Technologist License from New York State Education Department.
  • Meets all requirements of the New York State Department of Health for a Laboratory Supervisor.
  • New York State Cytotechnologist License.
  • Computer literacy and experience in utilization of laboratory computer systems.
  • Experience with computerized spreadsheets, word processors and other statistical and financial programming.
  • Good interpersonal, writing and communication skills.
  • All employees should live within a commutable distance to NYP.
  • NYP will not reimburse for travel expenses.
