About the Role

The Patient Access Team Representative (PATR) interviews patients to collect demographic and insurance information, records it in the EMR, and manages referrals and prior authorizations. This role ensures confidential distribution of patient information, schedules appointments and tests, monitors provider schedules, answers phones, and orders inventory.

Responsibilities

  • Interview patients to collect demographic and insurance information.
  • Record patient information into the practice's EMR system.
  • Distribute required patient information confidentially.
  • Schedule appropriate tests and follow-up appointments.
  • Monitor provider schedules.
  • Answer telephones and document interactions in the EMR.
  • Order inventory.
  • Communicate with ancillary and clinical departments.
  • Manage all referrals to specialty practices.
  • Obtain prior authorizations from insurance companies.
  • Work with insurance companies to maintain knowledge of changing requirements.
  • Update patient insurance information as verified.
