About the Role

The Medical Assistant performs delegated clinical and administrative duties under the supervision of a nurse or licensed physician, contributing to the goal of making children's health better through a holistic team approach.

Responsibilities

  • Provide competent technical and clinical services, adapting to daily needs based on policy, best practices, and department requirements.
  • Assist care providers with patient procedures and physical examinations.
  • Prepare patients for examinations and treatments.
  • Deliver care consistent with family-centered care and medical home models.
  • Provide flexible, culturally competent, and responsive care to patients and families.
  • Engage families as partners in decision-making regarding their child's care.
  • Act as a customer advocate, striving to meet and support patient and family needs.
  • Utilize a customer focus to complete assignments and interact courteously and conscientiously.
  • Respond promptly to parent requests and concerns.
  • Provide appropriate education and information to patients and families.
  • Work collaboratively to resolve problems and achieve goals.
  • Develop positive working relationships with colleagues and acknowledge their contributions.
  • Share knowledge and support team members.
  • Contribute to and promote a positive and professional work environment.
  • Manage records according to department policy.
  • Assist with data collection for various forms.
  • Obtain consent and release of information forms when necessary.
  • Maintain patient files, records, and other information.
  • Demonstrate adherence to documentation practices with accurate data entry and management.
  • Manage specimens according to protocols.
  • Maintain knowledge of routine testing processes and retrieve test results.
  • Communicate normal lab results as delegated.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Graduate of a program in Medical Assisting AND No directly related experience OR Completion of a formal medical services training program of the US armed forces OR 1 year of work experience in a related job discipline.
