About the Role
Hydropulse, a subsidiary of ITM Power Plc, is establishing decentralized green hydrogen production facilities. The Legal Counsel will play a key role in global operations, focusing on the effective execution of customer projects in Germany and Europe. This position is crucial for providing legal support and achieving company objectives.
Responsibilities
- Draft, review, and negotiate complex commercial contracts and long-term offtake agreements.
- Support with land use and lease agreements.
- Support with procurement contracts.
- Support with contract risk management processes.
- Assist in developing or improving Hydropulse legal compliance policies and their implementation.
- Provide general and commercial legal advice and support for Hydropulse (and ITM, where necessary) in day-to-day business.
- Create guidance and training materials, and conduct training on legal and contractual topics for Hydropulse employees.
- Monitor and advise on potential and relevant EU legal changes.
- Support and manage disputes and potential litigation.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external key individuals, including departmental and executive-level management.
Requirements
- Fully qualified lawyer with at least three years of professional experience as a lawyer or, ideally, as an in-house counsel with comprehensive knowledge of contract law and related legal fields.
- Experience in handling a wide range of high-value commercial legal matters and contracts is required.
- Up-to-date knowledge of commercial, contract, and corporate law, and the ability to track legislative changes and assess their impact.
- Demonstrated experience working in effective legal teams that deliver high standards.
- Excellent commercial acumen and the ability to provide practical, relevant commercial advice.
- Demonstrated experience in collaborative work and in efficiently and promptly resolving complex problems.
- Experience advising management on legal risks in a business context.
- Experience dealing with a variety of stakeholders and advisors, including specialist law firms.
- Experience managing external advisors regarding quality and costs.
- Experience negotiating and drafting commercial contracts with large global and multinational corporations.
- Experience managing legal advice in international jurisdictions.
- Experience handling disputes and contentious matters.
- Ability to professionally conduct difficult conversations and conflicts.
- Fluent German and English language skills, both written and spoken.
- Effective communication skills, including the ability to influence, coach, and adapt style to different audiences.
- Ability to adapt to a rapidly changing and growing environment.

About the Company
- Hydropulse, a wholly owned subsidiary of ITM Power Plc, will build, own, and operate decentralized facilities for the production of green hydrogen.
- Facilities are based on ITM's modular NEPTUNE technology.
