About the Role

The Manager, Pharmacy Operations and Innovation is responsible for supporting operational excellence, process improvement, and innovation initiatives across the enterprise, in both new and existing pharmacies. This role supports day-to-day operational performance while identifying, implementing, and evaluating new technologies, initiatives, and best practices that improve patient care, medication safety, efficiency, regulatory compliance, and operational excellence. Working collaboratively with Central Office Pharmacy Teams including Loblaw Real Estate, information technology, supply chain, and regional field resources, as well as external vendors, the Manager drives strategic initiatives that support organizational goals and continuous improvement.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and standardize operational policies, procedures, and best practices.
  • Identify operational challenges and implement sustainable solutions.
  • Ensure progress and updates of Pharmacy new builds are being tracked and communicated, and any gaps and deficiencies are being addressed in a timely manner.
  • Respond to operational issues and questions to provide guidance to the Pharmacy Operations teams, internal Pharmacy departments, and Store teams to resolve issues in a prompt and efficient manner.
  • Support cross functional teams with innovative opportunities to optimize workflow in pharmacies and resolve all issues as needed.
  • Execute and track enterprise scale projects to ensure timely delivery is aligned with business objectives and patient satisfaction.
  • Participate in ad-hoc and cross-functional pharmacy projects and initiatives as required.
  • Write and review Pharmacy communications for accuracy and appropriateness, along with monitoring information distributed to stores across network (SDM, Loblaw, and Pharmaprix).
  • Support pharmacy innovation strategies aligned with organizational priorities.
  • Identify opportunities to improve workflow efficiency through automation, digital technologies, and redesigned care processes.
  • Manage implementation of new pharmacy technologies, software systems, and operational tools.
  • Build relationships with vendors and external partners to support innovation initiatives.
  • Develop project plans, timelines, budgets, risk assessments, and performance measures.
  • Monitor project milestones and communicate progress to leadership.
  • Cross-collaborate with teams in Pharmacy Operations, Pharmacy Services, Real Estate, Information Technology, and National Operations.

Requirements

  • Post-secondary degree in Health Sciences or related discipline
  • 2-3 years’ experience in retail pharmacy, or in the healthcare or pharmaceutical industry, preferably in an operational setting
  • Experience with pharmacy information systems, electronic health records, automated dispensing technologies, and data analytics.
  • Strong Computer skills in a Windows environment using MS Office

Skills

  • Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) or Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy an asset.
  • Project Management experience an asset.
  • Knowledge of pharmacy operations and medication-use systems.
  • Understanding of healthcare regulations, accreditation standards, and medication safety principles.
  • Excellent project management, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong communication, presentation, and stakeholder management abilities.
  • Fluency in both English and French an asset.
