About the Role

The Legal Counsel will join the Group Legal team to support Man Group in executing its commercial and corporate strategy, protecting it against legal risk, and promoting high standards of corporate governance and legal compliance. This broad role involves advising on a wide range of commercial issues, including contracts, employment, data protection, real estate, M&A, and financial services regulation, encompassing both advisory and transactional matters.

Responsibilities

Draft, review, and negotiate commercial contracts, and respond to day-to-day legal queries.
Provide legal advice on corporate and commercial matters, escalating complex issues as needed.
Advise on the legal aspects of corporate projects, such as restructurings or acquisitions.
Collaborate with the data protection team on compliance and privacy-related issues.
Support the corporate real estate team on office lease matters.
Monitor legal and regulatory developments and assist in implementing related changes.
Provide legal support to sales and marketing teams for global investment product distribution.
Work collaboratively with global Group Legal team members.
Demonstrate a willingness to learn and maintain clear, professional communication with stakeholders.
Manage workload efficiently and seek guidance from senior team members when necessary.

Requirements

Qualified solicitor admitted to practice in England & Wales.
Approximately 2-4 years of post-qualification experience.
Excellent academic qualifications.
Experience in drafting and negotiating contracts.
Proactive approach to work.
Ability to work independently within a collaborative team environment.
Strong legal skills with sound commercial judgment.
Practical, business-focused approach to legal issues.
Effective interpersonal skills.
Ability to communicate effectively and constructively.
