About the Role
We are looking for an innovative social media specialist to join our team. You will be the driving force behind our social media presence, ensuring we attract and retain viewers, increase watch times, and maximize the reach and impact of our content on social media platforms such as YouTube, Instagram, Bluesky, and X.
Responsibilities
- Successfully plan, develop, and launch social media channels.
- Develop and execute strategies to grow and maintain an active social media presence.
- Engage audiences through creative content, conversation, and community management.
- Foster relationships and communication with viewers, stakeholders, and the broader public via social platforms.
- Monitor, analyze, and report on social media metrics to inform content and engagement strategies.
- Collaborate with internal teams, including media research, audience development, marketing, and communications, to ensure alignment of messaging and brand voice.
- Respond to inquiries, comments, and messages in a timely and professional manner.
- Stay current with trends, best practices, and emerging platforms in social media and digital engagement.
- Support the development and execution of promotions and special projects as needed.
- Analyze, develop, and pitch innovative social media strategies to engage audiences on platforms like YouTube and X.
- Plan and develop strategies for digital marketing campaigns, including content creation and management.
- Assess product features to identify marketing and promotional opportunities, implementing strategies to enhance outreach efforts.
- Collaborate with producers to implement strategies that expand audience reach and engagement.
- Conduct public opinion surveys to identify the interests of the audience.
- Prepare briefs and presentations when required.
- Uphold TVO's commitment to journalistic excellence by adhering to principles of fairness, transparency, and inclusivity, supporting its mission to inform and entertain Ontarians.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a social media strategist or similar role, with a strong portfolio of successful social media campaigns.
- In-depth understanding of various social media platforms and how to leverage them for maximum engagement.
- Ability to shoot and edit short video content to share on social media platforms.
- Proficiency in designing graphics to complement video content.
- Strong grasp of principles to improve search rankings and visibility.
- Proficiency in tracking and analyzing social media metrics to inform strategy adjustments.
- Keen awareness of social media trends and best practices.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills for engaging with our audience.
- Ability to think creatively and propose innovative solutions to boost audience engagement.
- Strong collaborative skills to work effectively with different teams.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Passion for current affairs, misinformation, and the role of media in shaping public perception.
