About the Role
Bioptimus is building a universal foundation model for biology to accelerate drug discovery, protein engineering, and genomics. This role is crucial for building the platform that makes training and serving these models fast, economical, and safe.
Responsibilities
- Design, build, and own the AWS architecture and the Terraform/IaC that defines it.
- Create golden paths and internal developer-platform tooling for provisioning, deployment, and shipping.
- Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines and the deployment substrate for models and SDKs.
- Implement IaC for access management, secrets management, network segmentation, and private connectivity.
- Create, influence, and review architecture, standards, and processes for the platform team.
- Build metrics, alerting, and cost visibility for platform reliability and economy.
- Support research workflows with platform know-how to enable self-service.
Requirements
- Proficiency in AWS with hands-on production experience designing and running cloud infrastructure.
- Proficiency in Infrastructure-as-Code (Terraform in production; configuration-as-code like Ansible is a plus).
- Proficiency in Kubernetes and containers.
- Strong CI/CD and developer-experience instincts (e.g., GitHub Actions, ArgoCD/Flux).
- Security-engineering capability to implement access control, secrets, and least-privilege in code.
- Strong networking skills (cloud and hybrid networking, VPC design, segmentation, private connectivity, DNS, load balancing, ingress/egress control).
- Platform-as-a-product mindset.
- Solid software engineering skills in Python, Go, or a comparable language.
- Team-first attitude, highly organized, proactive, and detail-oriented.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced and evolving environment.
- Enjoy solving operational and technical challenges at scale.
- Strong project management capabilities combined with hands-on technical fluency.
- Understanding of biomedical data ecosystems.
