About the Role
Develop your skills at the heart of a progressive Building Control service, working on varied and high-profile developments to ensure buildings across the borough are safe, compliant, and built for the future.
Responsibilities
- Carry out technical assessments of building work, making informed decisions to ensure compliance with health, safety, and energy conservation standards.
- Manage a portfolio of development sites under supervision, maintaining clear and accurate records for plan appraisals and site inspections.
- Apply the Building Act 1984 and Building Regulations 2010 to Class 2A and 2B developments.
- Support enforcement activity to address non-compliance and uphold standards.
- Liaise with architects, contractors, developers, residents, and external agencies, providing clear and professional guidance.
- Respond to complaints and unauthorised works with transparency and integrity.
- Contribute to the ongoing development of the service, supporting ISO 9001 quality standards.
- Help maintain a customer-focused, efficient Building Control function in line with the evolving regulatory framework.
Requirements
- Registered Class 1 or Class 2A/2B Building Inspector.
- Working towards professional membership with a recognised body such as RICS, CABE, or CIOB.
- Experience preparing technical reports.
- Solid understanding of the Building Regulations 2010 and approved documents.
- Experience working within a structured quality management system.
- Organised, proactive, and able to manage time effectively in a busy environment.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Salary/Compensations
- New hires will start at the minimum of the advertised salary range.
- Employees receive annual salary increases until they reach the top of the pay scale.
- Employees will receive any agreed cost of living pay rises.
