About the Role

The Quality Assurance Technician plays a vital role in monitoring and improving food quality and safety programs. This position ensures product integrity through daily checks and project work, requiring flexibility, accountability, and decisive action when quality is compromised. The ideal candidate collaborates effectively with team members and the operations team.

Responsibilities

  • Verifies production control sheets and performs production checks (product temperature, weight, sensory, texture, CCP).
  • Inspects finished products for consistency and quality.
  • Performs microbiology tests and monitors plant sanitation (equipment swab, environmental/air sampling).
  • Generates daily and weekly quality reports for the Quality Assurance Manager (wastage, downtime, detained products, non-conformances).
  • Supports quality control policies for production workers and performs personal hygiene checks via GMP training.
  • Collaborates with the production team to ensure processes and parameters meet specifications.
  • Ensures safe quality food procedures are followed.
  • Monitors and titrates the concentration of cleaning chemicals and sanitizers.
  • Calibrates and maintains laboratory equipment.
  • Prepares ingredients for production.
  • Performs product evaluation and trend analysis.
  • Conducts pre-operational checks, including visual inspections and random sampling, to ensure equipment is clean and sanitized before production.
  • Performs other duties or projects as assigned by the QA Manager.
  • Adheres to SOP, OHS, HACCP, SQF, and GMP standards, requirements, and practices.
  • Adheres to company working standards.
  • Follows work-safe procedures and wears required protective equipment.
  • Works effectively as a team with other employees.
  • Participates in root cause analysis.

Requirements

  • Good interpersonal and communication skills.

  • Self-starter with self-discipline and the ability to work under minimal supervision.
  • Team player.
  • Good computer skills (proficient in Microsoft Office applications).
  • HACCP and SQF knowledge and experience preferred.
