About the Role
This CRM / MarTech Data Specialist role sits within the Data Intelligence function, focusing on data hygiene, audience creation, and platform integration between the Customer Data Platform (CDP), Segment, and the CRM tool, Braze. The role ensures CRM and marketing data is clean, well-governed, and reliably flowing between platforms, enabling CRM, Product, and Commercial teams to target audiences with confidence. It suits individuals who enjoy hands-on data pipeline work, are comfortable at the intersection of data and marketing, and want to bring rigor and structure to a fast-moving CRM function.
Responsibilities
- Own day-to-day data quality across CRM/marketing data, including deduplication, validation, and standardization of customer records and event data.
- Define hygiene rules and taxonomy in partnership with the Data team.
- Build, test, and maintain customer audiences and segments for use in Braze campaigns and journeys.
- Translate CRM/Marketing targeting requirements into technical audience logic.
- Manage the data flow (ETL/reverse-ETL) between Segment and Braze, configuring sources, destinations, and tracking plans.
- Troubleshoot data synchronization issues between platforms.
- Act as the day-to-day data point of contact for the CRM/Marketing team, shaping requirements and ensuring consistency with Data function standards.
- Document data flows, mappings, and standard operating procedures.
- Ensure data handling complies with consent and data protection requirements (e.g., GDPR).
- Provide regular updates to the Data Director and CRM function on data hygiene status, integration health, and any risks or blockers.
Requirements
- Hands-on experience with Segment (or a comparable CDP such as RudderStack or mParticle), configuring sources, destinations, and tracking plans.
- Hands-on experience with Braze (or a comparable engagement platform such as Iterable, Salesforce Marketing Cloud, or Klaviyo), including audience/segment building and journeys or canvases.
- Strong SQL skills and comfort working directly with customer and event data models.
- Demonstrable experience with data hygiene practices - deduplication, validation, standardization, and consent management.
- Experience with ETL/reverse-ETL concepts and troubleshooting data pipeline issues.
- Ability to work independently as a contractor, defining and driving own workstreams with light-touch line management.
- Strong communication skills, with the confidence to work directly with marketing stakeholders without losing data rigor.
