About the Role
In our Housing Litigation Team, we are looking for a Senior Civil Litigation / Homelessness Lawyer to actively support the management of the department and provide high-level, proactive expert legal advice on Civil Litigation/homelessness matters to the Council, its members, and officers. This role involves attending court or tribunals as a Senior Lawyer, conducting high-quality advocacy, advising on Housing Law, allocating work, monitoring quality, and managing a team of approximately four individuals, ensuring their training and development.
Responsibilities
- Actively support the management of the department.
- Provide high-level and proactive expert legal advice on Civil Litigation/homelessness matters to the Council, its members and officers.
- Be a point of contact for members and senior officers on legal matters pertaining to Civil litigation/homelessness.
- Attend court or tribunals or public inquiries as a Senior Lawyer.
- Conduct high quality advocacy.
- Advise the Council and senior officers on Housing Law and related matters.
- Allocate work to appropriate members of staff.
- Monitor the quality of work undertaken by the team.
- Manage a team of around 4.
- Ensure adequate training and development for the team.
Requirements
- A current practising certificate (either as a Barrister, Solicitor or FCILEX (with litigation Practice rights)).
- A can-do attitude with the confidence to lead a team.
- Strong experience in all matters relating to housing law/Civil Litigation.
- Ability to anticipate problems and solve them accordingly.
- Must be dependable and self-reliant.

- £58,461 - £61,653 p.a. inc. London weighting
