About the Role

Healthy Kids Programs is hiring School-Age Childcare Assistants for Before and After School Programs at William B. Tecler Elementary School for the 2026–2027 school year. This role is ideal for individuals who love working with children, enjoy encouraging their curiosity and creativity, and want to provide a safe, structured, and engaging environment.

Responsibilities

  • Facilitate hands-on activities following the Healthy Kids Curriculum, including fitness, STEAM, academic, and art.
  • Supervise homework completion.
  • Provide a safe, healthy, and fun environment, acting as a positive role model.
  • Observe state guidelines, Healthy Kids Extended Day Program policies, and host school policies.
  • Support program operations, including attendance records, registration, and staffing.

Requirements

  • Must be 18 years or older.
  • Hold a High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • 1 year of experience working with children under 13 preferred.
  • Required health clearance, including TB screening, in accordance with state regulations.
  • Must demonstrate a positive attitude, strong interpersonal skills, professionalism, and reliability.
  • Physically able to bend, stretch, lift, and carry up to 50 pounds.

Location

  • William B. Tecler Elementary School in Amsterdam, NY

Work Type

  • Part-time
  • Follows the school calendar
  • Morning Program: 7:00 - 8:30 am
  • Afternoon Program: 2:45 - 6:00 pm

Experience Level

  • 1 year of experience working with kids under 13 preferred

Education Level

  • High School Diploma or equivalent

Salary/Compensations

  • $16.00 per hour
