About the Role

Responsible for inspecting and repairing vehicles, monitoring inventory, assembling components, and performing repairs. Ensures vehicles are properly maintained to minimize downtime and maximize the value of the agency’s investment, contributing to a safe and efficient Transportation Department.

Responsibilities

  • Oversight and implementation of transportation needs and vehicle maintenance
  • Keep equipment available for use by inspecting and testing vehicles
  • Complete preventive maintenance such as engine tune-ups, oil changes, tire rotation and changes, wheel balancing, and replacing filters
  • Maintain vehicle functional condition by listening to operator complaints and conducting inspections
  • Repair engine failures, mechanical and electrical system malfunctions, and body damage
  • Replace parts and components
  • Verify vehicle serviceability by conducting test drives and adjusting controls and systems
  • Comply with state vehicle requirements by testing engine, safety, and combustion control standards
  • Maintain vehicle records by recording service and repairs
  • Keep shop equipment operating by following operating instructions, troubleshooting breakdowns, maintaining supplies, and performing preventive maintenance
  • Contain costs by using warranty and evaluating service and parts options
  • Keep supplies ready by inventorying stock, placing orders, and verifying receipts
  • Update job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities and reading technical publications
  • Ensure accuracy and timely completion of documentation
  • Maintain agency compliance with regulations set forth by all state and federal regulations and CEO
  • Perform periodic internal reviews to ensure government agency regulations are met
  • Ensure proper reporting of all incidents as required by regulatory agencies and internal procedures
  • Maintain a clean NYS driver’s license
  • Prepare all required reports and special tasks as required
  • Follow agency guidelines set forth by program Policy and Procedure Manual

Requirements

  • Three years of experience in related fields
  • Maintain company requirements for driving agency vehicles and POVs
  • Maintain a clean NYS driver’s license
