About the Role
Lead intricate analyses to support product performance, applying structural mechanics rigorously while adhering to manufacturing, testing, and quality best practices. Engage in daily problem-solving to support design and manufacturing decisions and regularly present results to internal and external stakeholders.
Responsibilities
- Perform critical thermomechanical analyses of complex aerospace hardware through commercial analysis packages and hand calculations, working closely with the design team to rapidly iterate on new product development
- Peer review analyses produced by other Structures Engineers and subcontractors
- Liaise with customers on heat exchanger requirements
- Generate technical reviews, reports, and other engineering documentation
- Champion process improvement activities related to structural analysis
- Review and approve design changes and test procedures
- Support disposition of technical issues which occur during manufacturing
- Support customer reviews and inbound requests
- Support proposals and future product development
Requirements
- Extensive experience performing structural analysis for mechanical components; aerospace industry experience strongly preferred
- Expertise in commercial FEA software packages
- Expertise in material properties and selection process
- Knowledge of design principles, manufacturing processes, and assembly techniques
- Knowledge of 3D modeling and CAD software
- Knowledge of heat and mass transfer, fluid mechanics, and thermodynamics
- Knowledge of drawing ANSI standards and GD&T procedures
- Highly motivated self-starter
- Strong problem-solving skills
- Excellent attention to detail
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Capable of thriving in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to work for prolonged periods on a computer or in a lab environment
- Ability to move equipment up to 25 pounds
- Due to contracts with the United States Government, the candidate must be either a US Citizen or Green card holder.
- Demonstrated ability and willingness to use AI tools to improve productivity, decision-marking, work quality, and to reduce costs.
- The successful candidate must be able to identify appropriate AI use cases and critically evaluate AI-generated outputs
