About the Role

You will lead data protection and privacy operations for the non-U.S. based business of Columbia Threadneedle Investments, serving as a key member of the Global Privacy Office to drive compliance and program improvements.

Responsibilities

  • Act as the primary liaison to the non-U.S. CTI business and partner with Privacy Risk Liaisons to drive compliance.
  • Maintain the global CTI privacy program in alignment with Ameriprise Global Privacy Office objectives.
  • Partner with Information Security and CTI Compliance on program maintenance and development.
  • Monitor and implement regulatory changes across EMEA and APAC regions.
  • Support efforts to address the needs of non-U.S. based data protection and privacy regulators.
  • Maintain and update data privacy notices, policies, and procedures.
  • Define data privacy requirements and conduct Data Privacy Impact Assessments (DPIAs).
  • Proactively identify and advise on control and process improvements.
  • Develop content for privacy training and conduct education sessions for staff.
  • Direct and oversee the fulfillment of Data Subject Access Requests (DSARs).
  • Interface directly with data subjects regarding rights requests.
  • Manage and lead an employee assisting with privacy activities.
  • Prepare data privacy risk and compliance reports, including data analytics.
  • Engage in the culture of the General Counsel’s Organization.

Requirements

  • Expertise in GDPR, EU AI Act, and global privacy laws relevant to the asset management industry in EMEA and APAC.
  • Ability to analyze legislative requirements and relate them to organizational practices.
  • Demonstrated analytical skills to assess privacy and data protection risk.
  • Experience managing complex projects with cross-functional, global teams.
  • Ability to handle confidential information with impartiality.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Innovative mindset with the ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to prioritize conflicting demands.
  • Aptitude for learning evolving technology.
  • Continuous improvement mindset.
  • Previous experience in a similar role within the asset management industry is preferred.
  • CIPP/E Certification is highly desirable.
