About the Role

The Cyber and Autonomous Systems Team (CAST) is seeking expressions of interest from talented cyber security experts and software engineers of all seniority levels. This role offers the opportunity to work at the forefront of frontier AI security, evaluating AI model capabilities in cybersecurity and autonomy to ensure accurate risk assessment for the UK government and its partners.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate the capability of frontier and open-weight AI models in cybersecurity, autonomy, and AI R&D.
  • Use realistic cyber ranges and a large CTF suite for evaluations.
  • Run pre-deployment testing of frontier models.
  • Collaborate with partners across UK government, frontier labs, and NCSC.
  • Build state-of-the-art evaluations.
  • Run pre-deployment testing exercises.
  • Validate novel model behaviours.
  • Answer timely research questions.

Requirements

  • Talented cyber security experts and software engineers of all levels of seniority.
  • Must undergo a criminal record check.
  • Must obtain BPSS clearance.
  • Strong preference for eligibility for CTC clearance.
  • Some roles may require higher levels of clearance.

  • £65,000–£145,000 GBP
  • Level 3: £65,000–£75,000
  • Level 4: £85,000–£95,000
