About the Role
As a Bartender at Fairmont Royal York, you'll be at the forefront of our guests' dining experience, crafting perfect drinks and creating a welcoming atmosphere. Your expertise in mixology, combined with your personable and efficient service, will play a crucial role in enhancing our guests' enjoyment and satisfaction. Your ability to provide knowledgeable recommendations and handle guest interactions with finesse will ensure each visit is memorable and delightful.
Responsibilities
- Report to duty punctually to maintain the integrity of co-workers and guests.
- Consistently offer personal, friendly, and efficient service.
- Have full knowledge of the menu, beverage lists (alcoholic and non-alcoholic), and all other special promotions.
- Take corrective actions when serving dissatisfied guests, ensuring the guest leaves happy.
- Prepare all beverages according to guest requests and co-worker needs.
- Maintain teamwork and good work ethics with all guests (internal and external), by assisting co-workers with any duties.
- Record and fill all daily requisitions efficiently to maintain sufficient stock for each shift/day and to complete month-end inventory.
- Read and understand all hotel policies and procedures, rules, and regulations.
- Understand the concept and hours of operation of the restaurant/bar.
- Be aware of safety and sanitation when handling beverages and the equipment used in preparation.
- Attend pre-shift briefings, weekly and monthly meetings.
- Fully understand the hotel’s recycling program and procedures.
- Immediately report any accident that happens to a guest, a co-worker, or yourself to your manager.
- Express concerns, suggestions, or comments on how to improve the guest experience or the operation.
- Fully understand and confidently use all equipment in the outlet, including the P.O.S. system and Silverware system.
- Assist guests with selections and suggest wines that accompany meals.
- Understand all other outlets, services, and offices in the hotel and their locations.
- Balance all daily transactions and remit according to policies and procedures.
- Adhere to alcohol handling policy procedures.
Requirements
- Previous work experience in a restaurant/food and beverage setting.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and a team player attitude.
- Excellent cocktail and mixology knowledge required.
- Intermediate bartending etiquette and technical skills.
- Smart Serve training program certification required.
- Must be age of majority to serve alcoholic beverages.
- Cash handling abilities.
- Previous bartending experience in a Luxury hotel and/or bar.
- Must be legally eligible to work in Canada.
- Must have extensive understanding of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages and their serving methods.

Salary/Compensations
- $20.30 per hour, with a wage increase following six months of compensated service, as per the collective agreement.
